Olive Street Design goes to Harvard University!

Sept 19, 2013.

O’HARE AIRPORT, CHICAGO, IL

Four Olive Street Design workers woke up bright and early at 4 am on September 19th to head on over to the airport to fly over to Boston, Massachusetts. Nat Rosasco, Nick Rickard, Alex Stasyuak and James Rosasco were heading to Harvard University to meet James Fitzpatrick and Marie-Cecile at the Hasty Pudding Club on Harvard University Campus. Neither of us had ever been to Harvard University before and we were feeling very excited to visit it for the first time.

After we finally landed at the Boston Airport, we headed over to the Hasty Club Headquarters for our meeting. The Hasty Pudding Club is the oldest collegiate organization in the United States and we all felt that we were a part of something very special that has been around all this time. We thought the Hasty Pudding Club was unbelievable and we were taken aback by the plethora of history sprawled all over the place. They have ancient paintings and drawings from hundreds of years ago hung up all over the place which was very interesting to see. The coolest thing we saw hung up on the walls was a picture of President Teddy Roosevelt, President Franklin Roosevelt, President John Adams, President John Quincy Adams and President John F Kennedy who were all members of this historic club. Including the famous Presidents, Rashida Jones and BJ Novak from “The Office”, and Jack Lemmon were also members.

James Fitzpatrick gave the Olive Street Design crew a tour of the Harvard University campus after we saw all of the Hasty Pudding house and we had a great time learning new facts about Harvard and seeing the campus for the first time. James was a terrific guide and he was able to get us in the theatre room for the Hasty Pudding club where we got to walk around. Neither of us have ever had an experience like this before and it was very cool for all of us. We learned that the Hasty Pudding Club has a Man of the Year Award and a Woman of the Year Award every year which includes a prominent rising celebrity in the fine arts field. Some notable Men of the Year winners include; Jason Segel, James Franco, Sylvester Stallone,

Kiefer Sutherland and Robert Downey Jr. Some notable Women of the year winners include; Claire Danes, Jodie Foster,

Renee Zelwegger, Charlize Theron and Halle Berry. We all felt jealous that all these famous people come every year and we wish we could meet all these people too.

Eventually, it was time to say goodbye to our new Harvard friends and to go back home to Chicago. However, our flight got cancelled coming back so we ended up staying an extra night.

But, none of us were complaining because we all love Boston and we were able to stay longer and see more of Boston! The Olive Street Design crew cannot wait for the next visit back.
